Saturday Mornings
You wouldn’t believe how many 5Ks and other runs take place in the city center. Monitor street closings on Downtown Indy’s blog.
Mass Ave
At night, cars crawl as drivers search and wait for available meters. Don’t bother—whip into the Pulliam Square garage (350 N. Delaware St.; $7 daily max), which is one block away and never full. On the east end, park at your own risk in the large Center Township Trustee surface lot (863 Massachusetts Ave.), behind Homespun boutique. Some businesses give their customers a green light to use the lot on weekends, when it tends to be unmonitored.
Pacers Games
Duh. Avoid the area between Bankers Life Fieldhouse and Monument Circle. Get in and out via Washington, Maryland, and Alabama streets east of the arena.
IUPUI
Traffic is a nightmare, especially on weekday mornings. Avoid the middle of campus by using newly two-way New York Street to reach the IUPUI Sports Complex garage (875 W. New York St.; $15 daily max).
