Final Cut: These Productions Barely Missed Coming to Indy Theaters

“Even though I really love the shows, Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell won’t be in our 2015 season, because we didn’t have an appropriate time slot for them,” says owner Doug Stark. “Rent, because the show’s language and content may be offensive to our audience. And My Fair Lady, because it’s being done by Actors Theatre of Indiana.”

“Clutter, a new play by Lou Harry,” says executive artistic director Georgeanna Smith. “Lou is a local writer, and I love his work, but I have a very specific idea for how we want to stage it, and it will take multiple locations and some juggling. Also, Lord of the Flies—I love this piece, but it felt like the timing wasn’t right. With our current schedule, we just couldn’t fit it in.”
Indiana Repertory Theatre
“We have a long-running list of plays we’re interested in, but where we sit in the pecking order as a nonprofit, we won’t get the rights to a lot of shows until the commercial world exhausts it,” says artistic director Janet Allen. “One play that we would like to eventually do is You Can’t Take it With You.”
