Go Whole30 At R2GO

Heard about Whole30? The goal of the trendy nutrition program is to reboot metabolism and heal the digestive tract by eliminating sugar, gluten, dairy, and legumes for 30 days. Regina Mehallick started stocking ready-to-eat Whole30-compliant recipes at her Chatham Arch marketplace in January this year—perfect timing to bolster those New Year’s resolutions to eat healthier.
A personal trainer at CrossFit downtown told Mehallick about the Whole30 concept. After doing a little research, Mehallick agreed to start making some salads and main-course menu items.
During that first month, every Whole30 dish Mehallick made flew off the shelves.
“Customers knew we had Whole30 items available and came in with buying them in mind,” says Mehallick. “I can’t say specifically how many are following the diet right now, but we still have folks purchasing items in the case.”
Whole30 dishes that have proven particularly popular at R2GO: a hearty sausage, kale, and potato stew perfect for taking the chill off crisp fall days; a crunchy fresh Napa cabbage slaw; and a soulful spicy turkey with lemon-cauliflower rice.
“People are much more aware of what they are putting in their bellies, and they’re eating cleaner,” Mehallick says.
We can’t guarantee you won’t miss the sugar or wine, but under Mehallick’s watchful whisk and ladle, you definitely won’t miss out on any flavor.
