Where To Watch The Royal Wedding
If, like me, your invite to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19 got lost in mail, not to fear—a number of spots around town are hosting special viewing parties so you can critique the dress, ogle the fascinators, and ooh and ahh over the cuteness of Prince George and Princess Charlotte with fellow royal watchers. Of course, this time around, America’s actually got some skin in the game courtesy of our very own California girl turned (probably) Duchess. (The official royal titles will likely be bestowed upon the couple by the Queen on their wedding day, as was the case with Prince William and Kate Middleton.) While I may have had someone else in mind when daydreaming about Harry marrying an older American woman, Markle seems like his perfect match. It’s a total #IRLFairytale.
Hedge Row American Bistro (350 Massachusetts Ave., 317-643-2750)
Mass Ave’s latest addition will be getting in on the action with a Royal Cocktail from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with complimentary cupcakes and drink specials. Space is limited, though, so make a reservation soon.
Aristocrat Pub & Restaurant (5212 N. College Ave., 317-283-7388)
With a name like Aristocrat, it’d be quite the shame not to throw a regal event. The wedding will be shown in the bar and a private room upstairs, with a mimosa- and Bloody Mary–filled breakfast served until 11 a.m. You can even bring the kiddos, as there will be a special Royal Brunch for them, too.
Tina’s Traditional Tea Room (30 N. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, 317-565-9716)
You are cordially invited to a wedding buffet (11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) at this Anglophile’s dream spot in Carmel. Formal attire is required, so find yourself a proper hat and toast the happy couple in style. They’ll even be serving a lemon-and-elderflower cake modeled after Harry and Meghan’s. Buy tickets here.
Skyline Club (One American Square, 317-263-5000)
Enjoy great views of the city and the wedding of the year downtown, complete with an English buffet and a mimosa bar. Tickets are $25 for food and non-alcoholic bevvies, $45 if you’d like access to the mimosa bar.
Tea’s Me Cafe (140 E. 22nd St., 317-920-1016)
What could be more British than enjoying a cuppa as Harry and Meghan walk down the aisle? The party starts at 8 a.m. and promises to be filled with many delectable treats.
Tilly’s Tea Room at Saks Fifth Avenue (The Fashion Mall, 317-816-0171 ext. 5335)
Finger sandwiches? Check. English breakfast tea? Check. Champers? Check. If ever there was a time to don your favorite fascinator, this is it. Don’t forget to try to the scones with clotted cream, beloved by our friends across the pond.
