Celebrations Popping Up in Central Indiana Cities
To spread the love of the big game to those who can’t quite make it to Lucas Oil Stadium, the Super Bowl Host Committee announced 20 Super Celebration sites around central Indiana to offer family-friendly entertainment and up the excitement for the main event.
These sites will also host the Super Cars—IndyCar racing autos decorated to represent each of the NFL teams, plus one car for the big game. Before heading to the Super Celebration sites, the cars will be on display downtown on January 27, 2012, in front of Monument Circle on Meridian Street.
Each site will have activities from February 2-5 and has put its own spin on what it will offer.
For one, Bloomington will have local and IU sports memorabilia on display and will offer guided tours of the IU sports facilities, in addition to what the city already offers in terms of entertainment and dining. The Bloomington welcome areas will be the Bloomington Visitors Center on Walnut Street, and Fountain Square Mall on Kirkwood Avenue.
Visitors to downtown Zionsville will be able to see football-themed artworks from the National Art Museum of Sport, and local restaurants will have sports-themed menus. If you can’t wait until February, the NAMOS art will be on display starting December 3 as part of the town’s Christmas in the Village festivities over the weekend. The Zionsville welcome center will be at Prudential Real Estate Office on Main Street.
And anyone who has been on or near Massachusetts Avenue at night may have noticed the blue and white lights in the trees. This cultural district will also host a Super Celebration site to include an arts festival, promotions at local businesses and restaurants, and other festivities. Other downtown celebration sites are Indiana Avenue (Madame Walker Theatre) and Fountain Square (Indy Swank).
