Stephen Colbert to Replace Indy Son David Letterman in Late-Night Role
One sarcastic master deserves another.
Les Moonves, CBS Corporation chairman and CEO, was on the move after last week’s surprise announcement by David Letterman that he’s stepping down from his late-night chair when his contract expires in 2015.
CBS News revealed this morning that fellow talk-show host Stephen Colbert, most recently the figurehead of The Colbert Report and an alum of The Daily Show, will fill Letterman’s tassled loafers on CBS. Letterman has been akin to the Energizer Bunny on late-night broadcast television, having amassed a record 32 years of infiltrating living-room screens from a late-night perch.
