Top Five Hot, Boozy Beverages
Comfort food doesn’t have to be the only thing that warms you up this winter—add a cozy cocktail for an extra dose of heat. Added bonus: there’s no chance of a brain-freeze. Here are some of our favorite boozy winter beverages around Indy:
- A steaming mug of MacNiven’s Gaelic coffee, spiked with Famous Grouse Scotch Whiskey and topped with a heaping portion of double-whipped cream, will prepare you for post-dinner brisk winds. 339 Massachusetts Ave., 317-632-7268
- The not-too-sweet Dutch cocktail at Repeal combines warm rye whiskey, mole bitters, and a house spice mix for a shot of flavor. 630 Virginia Ave., 317-672-7514
- A creamy paste infused with chai spice and vanilla extract melts into Thunderbird’s riff on a hot buttered rum with the addition of boiling water. The smooth rum mixture, including Kronan Swedish Punsch, is garnished with a sprinkling of nutmeg. 1127 Shelby St., 317-974-9580
- The apple cider at The Ball & Biscuit is mulled in-house using a combination of orange peels, coriander, cloves, and other cozy winter spices. Add a shot (or two) of bourbon or rum to kick it up a notch. 331 Massachusetts Ave., 317-636-0539
- This tea-based cocktail isn’t officially on the menu at Tastings, but if you’re in the mood for something warm, they’ve got you covered. Chamomile or Earl Grey is mixed with Grand Marnier and amaretto, and finished with a sugary, caramelized orange slice. 50 W. Washington St., 317-423-2400
