Coming Soon: Liberty Street

Tin ceilings and now a massive handmade mahogany bar set the tone for Shawn and Tammy Miller’s 1920s-inspired bar, Liberty Street, set to open in the former Yats location at 653 Massachusetts Avenue within weeks. Shawn, a designer and builder, dug up a few nice-looking pieces of an old cabinet from a local antique store, giving him enough material to design his dream bar-back. Then, he came across some old-growth mahogany wood, probably cut 100 years ago, that gives the structure a sleek, sexy look. The soon-to-be watering hole—a sibling to the Millers’ other venture, Dorman Street Saloon—will limit its food to small plates when it opens. The dining options will eventually expand to a full menu.
