The Feed: Twenty Tap, Portillo's, And More

» SoBro’s Twenty Tap (5406 N. College Ave.) reopens today (August 22), six months after a kitchen fire led to the temporary closure of the taproom and restaurant.
» Good news, fellow worshippers of Chicago-style hot dogs: We finally have an opening date for Portillo’s in Fishers. The Illinois-based chain will open its 52nd location (the first in Central Indiana) on September 26. We don’t mean to be bossy, but get the onion rings with your dog. Trust us.
» Forbes weighed in with recommendations on the best places to eat and drink in Indianapolis right now, giving props to the “democratic and creative food scene” in town. The editors charted a meal course for the whole day, starting with Coat Check Coffee in the morning (401 E. Michigan St., 317-550-5008), wrapping it up late-night at Bar One Fourteen (114 E. 49th St., 317-916-0114), with stops at Love Handle, Garden Table, Stella, and Festiva in between.

» If you like beer and food (that means you, everybody), join us this Thursday for the Indianapolis Monthly Brews & Bites event at the Tinker House (1101 E. 16th St.). A $30 ticket gets you samples of beers from 25 of our favorite brewers, plus food pairings.
» The owners of St. Elmo Steak House and Harry & Izzy’s are putting the finishing touches on Burger Study, an upscale burger restaurant inside Circle Centre. Management is holding a job fair this week at St. Elmo for front- and back-of-house positions. They anticipate a September opening.

» Speaking of St. Elmo Steak House (127 S. Illinois St., 317-635-0636), there’s a new dessert option at the downtown favorite that raises money for Riley Hospital for Children. Server Sara Wessel won an in-house baking competition for a spot on the menu, and her winning chocolate-chunk toffee cookies are served with milk from Traders Point Creamery.

We are proud to announce an addition to our dessert menu, Gooey Chocolate Chunk Toffee Cookies created by St. Elmo server Sara Wessel! . These cookies are served with Traders Point Creamery whole milk and 10% of sales benefit Riley Hospital for Children. . In July we held a cookie baking competition with our FOH and BOH team members. The winner’s cookies would be featured on our dessert menu and they would get to choose a charity to benefit from the sales. . Sara wanted to make a classic cookie that would complement St. Elmo being a classic, old-school steakhouse, so she started with a chocolate chip cookie recipe and added her own special touch with toffee pieces and browned butter. She chose Riley to benefit from the sales because it seemed fitting considering milk & cookies were a childhood favorite for most people. @traderspointcreamery @rileykids #traderspointcreamery #milkandcookies #cookies #stelmos #steakhouse
