Swoon List: 5 Things We Adore Right Now
- The black-and-white cookie, an NYC icon, stacked at the King David Dogs hotdog stand at the corner of Illinois and Washington streets. Both the cookie and the hotdog stand (which King David uses for private parties) are here only for the Super Bowl. KDD ordered them as a sugary tribute to the Giants and their fans. Just don’t eat the whole thing in one sitting.
- Sweet and petite peppadew peppers stuffed with spicy chorizo, resting in a creamy goat cheese sauce at Black Swan Brewpub (2067 E. Hadley Rd., Plainfield, 317-838-7444).
- Fudgy, sweet-salty brownies served in tin foil at the Taco Lassi food truck, camped out on Monument Circle this week.
- The Pogue’s Run sandwich, stacked with turkey, cucumber, and lettuce, at Pogue’s Run Grocer (2828 E. 10th St., 317-426-4963).
- The French toast at City Cafe (443 N. Pennsylvania St., 317-833-2233), a thick slice of sourdough dipped in a rich batter with local Amish honey, then rolled in crushed cornflakes: Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside—and fit for breakfast or dessert.
