Swoon List: 5 Things We Adore Right Now
- The Traitor, a deliciously updated Eggs Benedict at Ruth’s Keystone Cafe (3443 E. 86th St., 317-757-8006). It features two eggs poached (to such creamy-dense perfection that we wish this kitchen would run a workshop on the lost art), placed atop seasoned mashed-potato pancakes (instead of the traditional English muffin) and drizzled with a luscious Hollandaise that rides the rich lemony-buttery-creamy flavor wave.
- A sensibly thick steak burger, heaped with mushrooms sauteed to an earthy-sweet brown sauce, strips of bacon, and Swiss cheese, served inside a toasted ciabatta bun with a side of warm housemade chips at Chef Joseph’s at The Connoisseur Room (115 E. Ohio St., 317-600-3577).
- Rabbit pot pie at The Local Eatery and Pub (14655 N. Gray Rd., Westfield, 317-218-3786), loaded with herbs and veggies in a creamy sauce under a puff pastry top.
- A worldly fried-fish taco decorated with crunchy slaw and a cool, tangy sauce with Indian notes from Taco Lassi, a new food truck roaming downtown with its meld of Mexican and Indian flavors. Look for a silver truck with the phrase “Tacos be with you.”
- The hot, sour traditional German potato salad at The Rathskeller (401 E. Michigan St., 317-636-0396).
