The Feed: Apocalypse Burger, Tuttle Orchards, And More
Patachou grande dame Martha Hoover is transforming the old Crispy Bird space into Apocalypse Burger, a takeout concept selling burgers, fries, and other comfort-food items. There is no set opening date quite yet, but the 49th & Penn spot already has a sign up. The restaurant group is also reopening the Meridian-Kessler Napolese on Thursday for daily carryout between 4 and 8 p.m., offering Petite Chou family-style dinners to take and reheat every Friday, and working on a limited Cafe Patachou menu called Patachou Provisions that features classic cafe items like granola, coffee, and baked goods.
Tuttle Orchards (5717 N. 300 W., Greenfield, 317-326-2278) has opened its greenhouse up for pickup purchases, so you can start planning your kitchen garden in earnest. While there, grab some of their frozen fruit pies and jams for a little preview of fruit season.
Old Major Market’s Mark LaFay has been tapped for a new For Dummies series book, and to celebrate, he’s doing a fab giveaway of charcuterie essentials like a meat grinder, stuffer, curing salts, and a copy of Charcuterie For Dummies. It’s a thorough tome of meat-curing education and no-nonsense DIY instructions so you can turn your kitchen into the finest salumeria this side of Sicily.
Tinker Coffee is spicing up its lineup with the addition of golden milk and masala-chai oat milk beverages. They’ll be released in a limited run at first, and if they’re a hit, they’ll be added to the regular menu. Both are coffee-free if you’re choosing now as the time to give up caffeine like some kind of deranged netless Wallenda, or you need a gentler version of that 3 p.m. perk-up.
