The Feed: Bae, La Mulita, And More
Carmel is getting a little more flavor with the addition of Bae (14580 River Rd.), a Latin food restaurant opening this Friday. Specializing in Venezuelan, Mexican, Colombian, Peruvian, and Argentinian food, it showcases the standards like tacos and burritos, but the real foodie draw should be the housemade arepas, pepitos (sandwiches on baguettes), and parillas—foods cooked on an open-flame grill.
La Mulita (5215 N. College Ave., 317-925-0677) welcomed new chef Tony Cooper to helm its kitchen, following in the large footprints left by chef Ricky Martinez as he helps open Havana Cigar Lounge this month at The Yard at Fishers District. La Mulita’s other half, Delicia, as well as The Northside Social are already accepting Mother’s Day and Easter Brunch reservations, so you can cross those off your list.
If your kids are over the age of 15 and you are looking for a way to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day together, The Blissful Baker is teaming up with the downtown Books & Brews (643 Massachusetts Ave.) for a cookie decorating class on March 15. The pub menu is teenager-approved while parents can get a pint, and you both take home five professional-looking cookies along with some pro tips on working with royal icing.
Want to help Kountry Kitchen recover after its January fire? Grab a ticket for one of the restaurant’s collaborative pop-ups with The Vanguard (6319 Guilford Ave., 317-254-1147). They kick off Wednesday with a $35, two-seating dinner. Two more are on the books for April 12 (three seatings) and a May 22 fish fry (two seatings).
MENU CHANGES
Taste of Dubai (4672 W. 38th St., 317-746-6966) heard the call of the veggie-loving people and added a vegetarian platter. Now you can dig into stuffed grape leaves, falafel, and your choices of tabbouleh or house salads, and babaganoush or hummus for $9.99.
