The Feed: Brugge, The Garden Table, And More

This week's update on Indy's dining scene.

Indy lost a legend when Brugge announced its closing. Owners Shannon Stone and Ted Miller called it quits and sold the last of their inventory within minutes, but there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon: a potential new location sometime in the future.

It’s soft-shell crab season, and your friends at Goose the Market (2503 N. Delaware St., 317-924-4944) are crab-rich and ready to either run them out to your car or deliver them to your door. These are blue crabs that are between molting their shells and growing a new one, so you can eat the whole thing without cracking any shells. Order online at goosethemarket.com.

The Garden Table (908 E. Westfield Blvd., 317-737-2531; 342 Massachusetts Ave., 317-638-0321) is open once again for curbside takeout and delivery with a limited menu online. Both locations will deliver via DoorDash, and the Mass Ave location also supports Uber Eats delivery. If you want to put more money back in the pockets of your local restaurants, the better bet is to pick up the food yourself, as third-party services eat away (sometimes as much as 60 percent) at restaurant profits. TGT will be happy to run your food out to your car with gloved and masked servers, and there’s no better time to start your juice cleanse.

They’re not the only ones re-opening for delivery and curbside carry-out. This weekend you can get reacquainted with the taste of Hank’s Smoked Briskets (3736 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St., 317-925-1689), Sangrita Saloon (834 E. 64th St., 317-377-4779), and Festiva (1217 E. 16th St., 317-635-4444), which has a take-home taco kit that includes a DIY setup for margaritas, cut limes included. Note: The folks at Hank’s would appreciate a call-in order so they can have it hot and ready for you, while Sangrita and Festiva can take orders both over the phone and online.

As if serving delicious pizza wasn’t enough, Greek’s Pizzeria is upping the ante with the addition of adoptable dogs from Animal Care & Control. While they won’t deliver a dog to your house (that would be hard with a hot pizza in the car), they’re sticking info sheets on good boys and good girls in search of their forever homes on every pizza box. Know someone who needs a furry friend to keep them company? Send them a flyer-topped pizza and support a locally owned restaurant at the same time. If they bring their adoption papers back in to Greek’s, there’s a free extra-large pizza waiting for them.

Cafe Patachou is giving moms what they really want for Mother’s Day: champagne, chips, and chocolate. Place your online order now for Saturday pickup of a kit that includes a bottle of Laurent-Perrier champagne, Lay’s potato chips, housemade caramelized onion dip, and a sampler of French Broad dark chocolate. With or without the Regalis Golden Kaluga caviar upcharge, you’ll be her favorite.
