The Feed: Cunningham Restaurant Group, The Golden Ace, And More

Our weekly roundup of Indy's dining news.

Cunningham Restaurant Group is offering the opportunity for you to buy frontline healthcare workers lunch or dinner at cost, starting at 10 meals on up. You can sign up and pay from the button on the front page of their website.

At the beginning of the month, Huse Culinary worked with Peyton and Ashley Manning to serve lunches to healthcare workers at St. Vincent Hospital. The restaurant group – including St. Elmo Steak House, Harry & Izzy’s, Burger Study, 1933 Lounge by St. Elmo and The HC Tavern + Kitchen – developed a program to allow the community to help give back by purchasing donation box-lunches. The donation box-lunches, including two filet sliders, chips and a dessert, are being given to healthcare workers, first responders and other essential employees who are battling the COVID-19 pandemic. Craig and Jill Huse will personally match the first 1,000 donated box-lunches.

The Golden Ace, Indy’s original Irish bar, is giving back to the community that gives back. They’re doing curbside carryout of booze and food if you call ahead, with a charitable bonus: They’re selling their back stock of brews at $15 for an 18-pack of domestics and macros, $35 for a 24-pack of specialty beers, or $10 for 4-pack of wine (about a bottle) when you show them proof that you’ve supported a local business. They’ll take a receipt, a photo, or a business card, and they want to get that beer sold before it goes bad.

The Damien Center is teaming up with the golden voices of the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus for a brilliant pivot from their regular Dine Out For Life partnership with local restaurants. Instead, join them for live trivia via Zoom and order takeout from one of the partnering DOFL restaurants raising money for an AIDS cure during Dining In With Damien. It’s happening every Thursday night in April and early May. See all participating restaurants and join the Zoom call at this link.

Tinker Coffee is starting a new nonprofit modeled after a highly successful Chicago campaign. Order a T-shirt and help support the Indianapolis Hospitality United relief fund, which will benefit every restaurant that registers with the nonprofit.

Kan-Kan Cinema may be temporarily on hold, but their house beer is still available for purchase from Black Acre Brewing. “Arthouse Blonde” is a farmhouse blonde brewed for a spring opening and available in four-packs until that glorious day that social distancing ends.

Indy Urban Acres and Sun King Brewing want you to start planning your garden, and they might give you a bunch of plants and beer in return. You can model, draw, grid map, watercolor, whatever you want, as long as you make the garden of your dreams. Winners get $25 to spend at the IUA plant sale and a $100 Sun King gift pack. Post yours to Instagram and tag @indyparksfnd, @indyurbanacres and @sunkingbrewing, and use the hashtags #IUAplantsale and #IUAdreamgarden to enter. For all the info and grid paper, visit their website.
