Feelin’ Groovy: 1960s Fashion

This year, Indianapolis celebrates its 200th anniversary. Throughout 2020, we’re reminiscing with a series of photo essays featuring fashion inspired by specific decades. What better era to kick things off than the freewheeling 1960s?

The Home

Designed by local architect Avriel Shull—the queen of midcentury modern—this condo in Ladywood Estates on the northeast side retains its righteous charm with original wood paneling and period furniture. Interior design has changed a lot since the 1960s, but Shull’s style has aged gracefully. As she once said, “Beauty is the only thing that lasts.”
