My Look: James Caldwell-Acha-Ngwodo’s Red Beret
For a guy who hates winter, James Caldwell-Acha-Ngwodo does a fine job accessorizing with hats and scarves. The owner of American Armadillo, a local fashion brand and style consultancy, caught our eye with this crimson chapeau.
Why a beret?
Because it’s distinctive. Winter is my nemesis, but my red beret and tiger-print scarf have become staples. I got the beret from a wholesale client.
Do you look this sharp all the time?
Dressing down doesn’t work for me. I’m not sure I understand the concept. The way I dress is a part of my lifestyle, and I’m always working.
Bowtie size?
Bigger is better. But it should be in proportion to your body size.
A lot of people say Indy is too casual. What’s your take?
Well, I wouldn’t say too casual. We just haven’t established a style identity.
Where do the best dressers go?
Small-business events like Yelp! Totally Bazaar and the Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace. The arts, culture, and small-business communities come together there, and that’s where you see the most individualized people.
Can you share a style rule you give to clients?
Dress your personality. A positive self-image is the first step in achieving success.
What’s on your wish list?
A chauffeur.
