The Hot List 2.21.14

Boy, Oh Boy
Opening of the week: James Dant (5624 E. Washington St., 317-502-7053, jamesdant.com), a hip menswear boutique. Owner Tommy Dant designs most of the pieces in the store, including his signature Jackson Pollock–esque tees and handpainted sneakers. Race you to the Komono “Black Wood” watch ($110, pictured).

Boot Scootin’
We’re kicking ourselves for just discovering The Outpost, a longtime retailer in Washington Square Mall (317-899-3568, outpostwesternwear.com). But at least now we’re kicking ourselves in these cute Dan Post midcalf cowgirl boots ($99). The Outpost owners, former ranchers themselves, run a flagship Western-gear shop in Trafalgar. Their Indy satellite carries around 300 pairs of real-deal, top-brand cowboy boots for men and women. The distressed look is big right now.

Crew Member
Martha Hoover’s oldest child, Sarah Hoover, is evidently a J. Crew muse. Her recent appearance on the retailer’s blog wasn’t the first. Catch up on the New York City gallery director’s cameos (and see her red-hot Prada sandals) here
