Wanted: Retro USA T-shirts
The U.S. Men’s National Team will play one of its biggest-ever matches on Thursday, facing the mighty German side in a contest that will decide whether the Yanks advance to the next round of World Cup play in Brazil.
Lots of supporters will be wearing pricey replica team jerseys while watching the game (noon, ESPN). But you can stand out from the cheering crowd (and save a few bucks) with one of these red-and-blue–striped ringers from Indianapolis-based T-shirt company The Brick Shirt House, emblazoned with either an old-school crest or “USA” in a retro-tastic font. Price: $20.
The shirts aren’t available in stores, so to get one before tomorrow’s match, you’ll need to place an order on The Brick Shirt House’s website, purdrunk.com, by midnight tonight, and then e-mail owner/designer Alex Janeczek (takeashirt@gmail.com) to make pick-up arrangements; he will be delivering them around downtown Indy Thursday morning before the game.
(And since you’ll be wearing local, why not root local, too? Starting U.S. defender DaMarcus Beasley is a product of Fort Wayne.)
