For Sale: A Moroccan Mansion on Geist

A lot of mansions make the same first impression as this brick behemoth on Geist’s prestigious Breakwater Drive. But few leave an equally lasting mark. The owners layered on Moroccan design elements, including arched doorways and color-rich decor that seems sourced from a souk. The soaring great room sets the tone with its intricate, hand-painted wall mosaic and two levels of arcade-style arches. In the dining room, upholstered doors face a built-in china cabinet. Starburst light fixtures appear in the kitchen and a bathroom. Another bath (one of seven, along with five bedrooms) dazzles with a bright mosaic floor. The basement loses the cultural script a bit, but not the bold theme: A curved wall is upholstered and tufted, and the floor is striped. A den on the second floor, though, makes a final statement with wall stripes in red, pink, and orange, layered rugs, and even a daybed built into the corner. All that’s missing is a snake charmer sitting in one of the courtyards on the palatial grounds, which include a pool and a tennis court. Flip through the photo gallery, then stamp your passport.
