The Shopportunist: Previewing Indiana Design Center's Public Day

Upstairs at the Indiana Design Center, several showrooms are packed with luxury home lines and custom Indiana-made furniture. But you can’t just walk in and buy this stuff. The businesses’ trade-only status means they cater exclusively to interior designers and their clients. On November 18, they’re making an exception and welcoming the public to pluck Ralph Lauren chairs and Kravet fabrics for themselves, at below-retail prices. Stop by the The Trade Source, the city’s largest dealer of high-end fabrics; The Trade Connection, a vendor for dozens of designer lines including Ralph Lauren Home Collection, Barbara Barry, and Arteriors; and Outre, a contemporary-furniture showroom that makes its custom pieces in northern Indiana. Don’t miss the gorgeous retail showrooms on the first floor, too—word is they might run specials of their own. 200 S. Range Line Rd., Carmel, 317-569-5975
