Three Wintry Candles We're Pining For

The upside to this week’s premature snowfall: It’s officially okay to break out the holiday candles. We went through a jar of Paddywax pomegranate-and-spruce over the weekend. Next up: Diptyque’s holiday collection, a rare find. 8 Fifteen (815 E. 65th St., 317-253-1234) got permission from the French company to stock it for the first time, making the shop the only place in Indiana to sell the 2014 limited-edition trio. Tom Ford uses Diptyque in Gucci stores, and the candles inspire such devotion that some people recycle the jars into vasesFrasier Fir by Thymes is more ubiquitous (partly because these popular candles evoke the forests of Frozen even when unlit), but the variety of sets and vessels at Surroundings (1101 E. 54th St., 317-254-8883) is something special. We love the oblong jars with wooden lids; don’t show up to your in-laws’ Thanksgiving dinner without one. Find your own personal scent among The Archivist collection at Silver in the City (434 Massachusetts Ave., 317-955-9925). For the purist, there’s a clean Winter Solstice aroma. Guys might lean toward the stripped-down wood fragrance. Let it snow!
