Our Favorite Houses: Fountain Square Fab

Patrick Miller and Jared DeLong had been scouring Fountain Square by the time their Realtor showed them a certain home last fall. No, not this one—a house across the street. But this 1870 charmer caught their eye instead, and they came back to see inside that very night. After a week, the Realtor pointed out that their conversations kept coming back to this two-story sweetheart with an unusual horseshoe-shaped balcony, bumped-out front window, and crisp white-on-navy trim. So they accepted the inevitable and moved in.

Inside Story
The mix of old and new details appealed to Miller and DeLong. The kitchen is modern, and a mural on the garage painted by local artist Nick Abstract adds contemporary flavor. But the dining room’s built-in cabinets have fine, intricate woodwork that’s a thing of the past, observes Miller. On the second floor, that distinctive arched patio is part of the master bedroom, and there are two additional bedrooms. In all, 2,400 square feet of living space offers plenty of room for the couple and their dogs to ramble around in. “We thought it was unique and kind of storybook,” Miller says.
