Lacquered Up: Northside's Little Nail Shop

Sure, there is an endless array of places in town to get nails adequately filed and shaped. But Little Nail Shop, owned by VeeVee and Scott Jones (yes, that Scott Jones), makes the experience extra special. The recently opened salon on the border of Indy and Carmel exudes girliness in a pink-on-white boutique atmosphere with lofted ceilings, dandelion-style pendant lights, and lots of comfy pedicure armchairs.

The front-desk clerk welcomes you with a beverage, an herbal neck pillow, and scented lotion choices and points you to shelves of swanky polishes by Chanel and Deborah Lippman. For Tinseltown-style digits, add blingy Minx decals like fishnet, houndstooth, and metallic lace. Kids, meanwhile, can keep busy in a play area with toys and iPads. Surprisingly, prices are competitive—$25 for a mani, $35 for a pedi. But even if you have an appointment, prepare to wait; this is no express shop, especially on the weekends. Not that you’ll be in any hurry to step away. 9407 N. Meridian St., 317-844-9081, littlenailshop.com
