The Shop And Closet Candy Boutique Open At Clay Terrace In Carmel

You think malls, you think chains. But that’s not always the case. Two local retailers just set up shop in Clay Terrace.
Broad Ripple sports den The Shop brings its Indiana-themed swag to Clay Terrace September 1. The retro T-shirt maker’s second store features mainstays from the original location, such as Purdue Pete, Butler Blue, and the popular navy  “drINk Indiana” collection, rendering the state as a beer mug. It’s high season for Colts apparel right now, and the Clay Terrace location also stocks licensed blue-and-gold Carmel Greyhounds gear. Co-owner Brian Kelly designs every piece himself, taking inspiration from seasonal or sports trends. One of the recent roll-outs? A “Jack Doyle Rules!” tee, with all proceeds going to benefit #BrodyStrong, a charity honoring the memory of 8-year-old Brody Stephens, an Indiana basketball fan who died in April while battling leukemia. theshopindy.com

Formerly online-only outpost Closet Candy Boutique launched its first brick-and-mortar location. The women’s fashion boutique with more than 1 million Facebook followers features cozy cardigans, lace-lined high-low tees, flannels, scarves, and stylish sneakers. Many items land in the $30 to $45 range. Bonus: They donate 10 percent of profits to Indiana charities, so you can support a good cause while tracking down a trendy pair of thigh-high boots. closetcandy.com
