Shopportunity: Pattern Workshop Re-Grand Opening Party

Still a little mystified about the terms “maker” and “maker space”? See for yourself at Pattern Workshop’s re-grand opening party Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Mass Ave boutique (originally The Pattern Store) has expanded to include workspaces for local goods-makers. Right out in the open, there’s the table where Christian Resiak of new label Howl & Hide Supply Co. cuts and hand-sews his rugged leather satchels; the corner where the Yonder Bound couple prints and puts together tasting journals for donut fiends and cheese-mongers; and Betty, the sewing machine belonging to Jerry Lee of Hoosier Built embroidered western apparel. The maker movement emphasizes small-batch hand-craftsmanship, and its soul is collaborative. After only a couple months in their new spaces, the Pattern Workshop makers have already developed new products together. They’ll be on hand during the in-store party, which features pop-up shops by Warfleigh Barber & Supply Co. in Broad Ripple and Vardagen in Fishers in addition to Pattern’s usual racks of men’s and women’s clothing. A preview: locally made Cushings beard oil from Warfleigh; a silky-soft, thin “Indiana Can Save the World” tee by United State of Indiana (above); and Yonder Bound notebooks with covers by local artists made specially for Saturday’s event (top). 871–832 Massachusetts Ave.
