Now Hear This: Live Music in "Little" Nashville

The 19th Hole Sports Bar & Grille. Overlooking the Salt Creek golf course, this man cave is where buds meet to drink ice-cold beer and eat hot wings. Local musical groups play on Saturday nights. 2350 State Road 46 E., Nashville. 812-988-7888, saltcreekgolfretreat.com.

Chateau Thomas Wine Bar & Gift Shoppe. Some bons vivants swear that music sounds better after drinking a few glasses of wine. And we’re inclined to agree. So after placing your order in this rustic post-and-beam tasting room, find a seat by the small stage and enjoy acoustic singer-songwriters such as Mark LaPointe  (think James Taylor) and the duo of Sharlee Davis and Will Devitt, while you sample from among the winery’s 50-plus varieties. Live music Fri. and Sat. 7–10 p.m. 225 S. Van Buren St., Nashville. 812-988-8500, chateauthomas.com.

Corn Crib Lounge. With its woody walls and stone fireplace, the Brown County Inn’s bar isn’t where you’d expect to find a party scene. But stick around. After dinner, the dining room is a dance floor, and local bands like Big Daddy Caddy rock the stage.  Just not too late. “This is the nightclub of Brown County,” says bartender Lisa Spinks. “But last call is still at 12:15.” Live music Fri. and Sat. 9 p.m.; open mic Wed. 7:30 p.m. 51 State Road 46, Nashville. 812-988-2291, browncountyinn.com.

Muddy Boots Cafe. Local singer-songwriters perform nearly every night of the week except Sunday at this in-town eatery. From the stage at the back of the restaurant, they provide a musical backdrop without overwhelming the after-dinner coffee and conversation. Live music Mon.– Sat. 6–8:30 p.m.; Fri. and Sat. 7–9:30 p.m. 136 N. Van Buren St., Nashville. 812-988-6911, muddybootscafe.com.

Pine Room Tavern. In a concert space that spills into the dining room, you’ll have a good seat for some of the region’s best folk and bluegrass musicians (like Nashville-based trio Travis Creek), live jazz, and music from a variety of other genres. 51 E. Chestnut St., Nashville. 812-988-0236, pineroomtavern.net.
