Helio Castroneves

Last year, 46-year-old Helio gleefully defied the odds to become only the fourth four-time winner of the Indy 500. No one has won five.

“One does not wait to face Helio in competition. One simply enters a location where Helio is already competing.”

The men stole the show playing against swimsuit models, thanks to these moments of bonding and spontaneity.

“It was like, I don’t know, when you do a flip into a swimming pool,” says Castroneves. “I closed my eyes, because I didn’t want to see what was coming. ”

Ladies and gentleman, start your arguments.

“We’re starting all over again,” says Castroneves. “Just because we won three times, it won’t be easy, and it won’t be the same as the times before. Every year, it changes.”

Saturday in downtown Indianapolis, the 500 Festival Parade featured floats, fans, celebrities, and plenty of excitement as the city gets in the mood for the 2015 Indianapolis 500. Notables in attendance included Pacers Paul George and Frank Vogel, Indy 500 drivers Helio Castroneves and Scott Dixon, and former Colt and restaurateur Gary Brackett.  

Racing greats past and present were in high spirits at Friday’s 2015 Indianapolis 500 Carb Day.

Spotting is no small job. “You screw up,” said Wheeler, “it’s big.”

“We haven’t heard the three magic words: Cleared to drive.”

“Domestic violence impacts our families and friends, our workplaces, and our communities,” said Castroneves. “I’m encouraging racing fans to clean out their drawers and donate their old phones and accessories.”

IM’s May Madness photographers caught the action at today’s Grand Prix of Indianapolis warmup—and got up close and personal with the drivers.

“I still feel like I’m living a dream,” Indy 500 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay said on the podium, his car and pit crew to his left. “I can’t believe my face is going to be on [the Borg-Warner] trophy.”
