Video: Watch Helio Castroneves Flip Upside-Down

Olympic gold-medal gymnast Shawn Johnson visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last weekend for the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis, and we’re pretty sure if she were here today, she’d give high marks to Helio Castroneves’s 270-degree aerial maneuver in practice. We can be glib because the three-time Indy 500 champ walked away unscathed, though he was reportedly shaken up. After climbing out of the car himself (always a good sign), onsite medics declared him uninjured. But as a seasoned member of the media said, “We haven’t heard the three magic words: Cleared to drive.” Here’s the video (including a view from inside the car, showing Castroneves releasing the steering wheel to brace for impact).
