Martha Hoover’s middle child, a graduate of the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy, is readying the family biz’s next addition for a summer opening.

“When I’m supporting all my weight with my forearm, it may not look like much, but it isn’t easy. When my partner spins me like a helicopter, sometimes I get dizzy and feel like my eyeballs are going to pop out.”

She visits all IPS high schools to invite junior and senior girls to her dress giveaway on April 16.

The Broadway star visited Bloomington to receive an award from his alma mater, and he talked to us about working with Robin Williams, his role on an NBC drama, and the fear that motivates him artistically.

The Australian performer, appearing at the Columbia Club on April 11, isn’t sure how she acquired her musical tastes, “but the muses responsible should probably be arrested.”

“President Obama and Vice President Biden stood up to shake my hand,” says Blanco. “It was a true sign of respect for my work as a poet. I thought, ‘These guys have my back.'”

What does Indy have that Vegas doesn’t? “It’s got me. Also, neighborhoods. And people who know each other, and kids who still call their friends’ parents ‘Mr.’ and ‘Mrs.'”

“I think I was about 7 years old. The morning after my parents had a party, I got up and tried some 10-hour-old Michelob,” she says of her first beer. “Not good, but that was my first.”

Says the artist, “If my pictures have a message, it’s an organic message. It’s not like I set out to improve rights for LGBT people.”
