August 2012: Twenty-two-year-old Indiana Pacers player Paul George throws down a reverse-360, between-the-legs dunk that sends his Shanghai audience into a frenzy at the Festival of Sport. What’s more, the NBA All-Star Game slam-dunk contestant performed the dunk without warming up. Even better: LeBron James shouted him out afterward on Twitter.
When I was a high school freshman, my dream was to be the star of the stage. I performed in two plays that year, but after failing to make the musical cast the following fall, I joined the speech team and found my true calling in public speaking. These days, I’ve dropped out of the drama world completely, but whenever I see a play, I wonder what it would be like to return to the stage.
It may be “The Year of Dairy Cows” at this year’s Indiana State Fair, but some are getting downright sheepish at the big event. From a State Fair media blast that went out on Saturday, here’s one quote about the rivalry between sheep-raising sisters, ages 14 and 17, respectively:
