Coming Soon: Shoefly Public House
Next month, husband-and-wife co-owners Craig and Kait Mariutto will bring gussied-up pub fare to Fall Creek Place. Shoefly Public House, opening in a century-old building at 22nd and Talbott streets, will seat 75 to start, with future plans to expand the basement level to the 21-plus crowd. Craig, a transplant from the state of New York, says the menu will feature rustic pub food with a modern touch. Expect 12 local beers on tap, as well as half-a-dozen sandwiches, tacos, burgers, and a vegetarian meatloaf. Craig is also working with a local baker to develop a unique crust for flatbreads, such as one with charred tomatoes, drizzled with a balsamic glaze, and another with roasted lamb, baked with bechamel sauce. “Our goal,” says Craig, “is to keep everything simple and fresh.” 122 E. 22nd St., shoeflypublichouse.com.
