New in Town: Viet Hua
If you haven’t meandered through the sprawling and ever-changing shopping centers adjacent to the Castleton Square Mall lately, you probably haven’t noticed the newest (and certainly among the largest and cleanest) Asian markets to arrive on Indy’s retail scene in a few years. Spanning over 25,000 square feet, its spacious aisles stocked with kim chee, spices, sauces, and other Asian-dinner staples, Viet Hua (6336 E. 82nd St., 317-596-2222) opened just over a month ago. The store houses a small produce section brimming with bargains on Asian greens, as well as a full-service fish counter featuring Dungeoness crab, lobster, and a variety of whole fish and filets. Bulk rice, noodles, and an array of Mexican spices seal the deal. And though this spiffy market doesn’t rival Saraga in size and selection, Viet Hua is definitely good news for local lovers of international foods and a sign that Indy’s shopping options are keeping up with its growing Asian population.
