The Local Eatery & Pub’s (14655 Gray Rd., 317-218-3786) creative take on shrimp and grits, featuring a little chorus line of head-on, tail-on shrimp perched on sauteed spinach and smoked-gouda polenta.
The delightful namesake pizza at Diavola (1134 E. 54th St., 317-820-5100)—a thin but supple fire-cooked crust scattered with spicy soppressata (an Italian dry salami) and lumps of fresh fior di latte cheese.
A luscious dollop of smoked-trout dip at Peterson’s (7690 E. 96th St., Fishers, 317-598-8863), whipped with goat cheese and dill and served with garlic baguette crisps.
Spoke & Steele’s (123 S. Illinois St., 317-737-1616) pork-enchilada soup from its Devour Downtown lunch menu, loaded with big hunks of tender pulled pork, tortilla strips, black beans, roasted corn, and a kick of cilantro-lime cream.
