My Look: Maggie Conner's Sequined Skirt
By day, Maggie Conner works in communications for Heritage House senior center. But at night, the occasional fashion blogger and stylist isn’t afraid of a little sparkle.
Where did this piece catch your eye?
Asos.com. I shop a lot online out of sheer laziness.
What about locally?
Niche and Pitaya for fun, cheap clothes. For work, you can’t beat BCBG. I love their washable jersey dresses.
Do you find sequins tricky to wear?
It’s hard to pull off in Indy. But I’m a sucker for anything that sparkles. I usually pair sequins with T-shirts. There aren’t a ton of places to wear head-to-toe disco-ball attire.
When do you like to get dolled up?
All the time. I don’t care that I’m wildly overdressed most of my life. Hot pants at dinner—been there. Six-inch platforms at a barbecue—done that. Dressing up is fun! People should try it.
How’s the state of style in Indy?
People are starting to care about fashion. However, I still see a lot of sloppy sweatshirts and ripped jeans at dinner. I sound like my grandma, but a little effort in the way we dress is a sign of respecting others around us.
What trend are you excited about?
Ultra-femininity. From the spring/summer runways, I love Burberry’s sorbet palette, Dolce & Gabbana’s whimsical florals, and Altuzarra’s screen-siren satins.
