At Home: Truen Jaimes’s Living Room
Truen Jaimes, the creative director and co-owner of the Indy-based House of 5th accessories line, relocated from New York City several years ago and channeled the city’s spirit when he settled on the artist-friendly near-east side.
Art
Bloomington artist Caitlin Taylor gave Jaimes this oil painting.
Columns
Jaimes got this architectural idea from interior designer Nikki Sutton. “I really didn’t want to leave my footprint on this house because it’s pre-1900s,” he says. “This was the only thing I could do to open it up without changing the structure.”
Beams
He exposed the original rafters to give the space an industrial look.
Fan
The “Odyn” fixture is from Zionsville design company Fanimation.
Clock
Jaimes sets one to London time because he used to live in the fashionable English capital.
Lamp
“People think I’m hard to buy for, so they buy me the same stuff,” Jaimes says. “Everyone tries to give me capiz lamps.”
Pillows
From Boomerang BTQ on Mass Ave.
Book
The young designer calls this Tom Ford publication his fashion bible. “I crack it open to look at the images, and I’m reminded why I do this,” he says.
Rug
Jaimes bought this cowhide textile from one of House of 5th’s vendors, Tandy Leather.
Chaise lounge
A Mies van der Rohe reproduction.
Seats
These Danish modern chairs radiate a contemporary vibe.
