The Replay: Mark Cuban, Lil Bub, and the Colts

Every Friday, we post up The Replay, our weekly look at sports. It’s mostly fouls and airballs.

» Banner Banter: Fans and media are divided over a new Lucas Oil Stadium banner that commemorates the Colts’ 2014 AFC Championship appearance. Deadspin argued that “AFC Finalist”—the language on the banner—isn’t even a thing. That didn’t stop the franchise from celebrating at Wednesday’s open practice, but it obscured the larger question: Which player’s mom brought the juice boxes and orange slices?

» The Great Unknown: This week Frank Vogel spent the day at ESPN, making appearances on a variety of shows. When the guys at Mike & Mike asked who the franchise was taking in the upcoming NBA draft, the Pacers coach said, “Only two people know: Larry Bird and God.” Let’s pray that’s God God and not “God Disguised as Michael Jordan.” As a NBA talent evaluator, Jordan has been all-too human.

» Shark vs. Cat: Mark Cuban donated $5 million to the IU Athletics department for the creation of a sports media and technology center. The hope is that “leading-edge media tools” will help bring “high-quality professional content.” Is the investment wise? Bloomington’s resident social-media expert was unavailable for comment:

» Beerd: Devotees of Upland Brewing observed some kind of feast day to venerate Bad Elmer’s Porter. That begs the question: Who wore it best?
