Top Five Indy Weekend Brunch Spots
1. Milktooth
534 Virginia Ave., 317-986-5131, milktoothindy.com
Billed as an “upscale diner,” this Fletcher Place gem with a passion for runny yolks dishes up elevated brunch fare every day (except Tuesday) until 3 p.m. Chef-owner Jonathan Brooks constructs hits like savory Dutch Babies and purple barley porridge.
2. Georgia Reese’s
3454 W. 86th St., 317-876-3454, georgiareeses.com
Sunday’s homestyle brunch buffet features menu favorites like fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, prime rib, and alligator gumbo alongside a few Southern-inspired surprises like biscuits and gravy, cheesy grits, and Creole shrimp cocktail. Live jazz and gospel performers provide the background music.
3. Black Acre Brewing Company
5632 E. Washington St., 317-207-6266, blackacrebrewing.com
This rough-hewn Irvington microbrewery makes good use of its tiny backroom kitchen, and what appears on Sunday’s very brief hangover brunch menu is chef Mike Dyke’s call. Fortunately, his global inspiration ranges from corned beef and cabbage to huevos ranchos to crabby eggs Benedict. (Editor’s Note, February 12, 2014: Black Acre has ceased serving its Sunday brunch.)
4. The Ball & Biscuit
331 Massachusetts Ave., 317-636-0539, ballandbiscuit.com
Brunch is served on the third Sunday of each month in Mass Ave’s low-lit speakeasy. Must-haves include the Chicago Cider drink, the B&BLT (smoothed with Sriracha cream), and La Cucina Povera (a pair of eggs baked in a garlic-spiked tomato sauce).
5. The Ville
101 N. 10th St., Noblesville, 317-774-5301, dineattheville.com
At this newcomer to the Noblesville dining scene, rustic wood-topped tables and lighting dimmed by swatches of earthy fabric set the barn-chic scene for a laidback buffet-style meal featuring a rotating menu of chef’s creations.
